Social Login

There are many plugins for social login. Our team recommends 2 options:

Nextend Social Login and Register is a plugin that our team has been using for several years. It’s regularly updated and has both free and pro versions that allow you to add other channels.

  • Supports login/registration via Facebook, Google, and X (formerly Twitter)
  • Automatically imports profile pictures from social networks
  • Can set custom URLs for login and redirect (if you don’t want to access the backend at /wp-admin/)
  • Includes Widget/Shortcode functionality
  • Supports WooCommerce and other plugins
  • Supports login via LinkedIn, Amazon, VKontakte, WordPress.com, Yahoo, PayPal, Disqus, Apple, GitHub, Microsoft, Line, Discord, Slack, TikTok, Steam, Twitch, Kakao, Reddit, Spotify, and other systems in the future
  • Customizable appearance and additional User Role settings

Log in with Google only supports Google. Based on our experience, we think this is sufficient for websites without membership systems, mainly focused on internal team use.

Creating a Google App will be the same as Nextend, with the only difference being that the Authorized redirect URIs URL must be YOUR_DOMAIN.COM/wp-login.php.

The main way WordPress websites get hacked is through random User/Password attempts into the system. If we switch to using Social Login and install the Seed Login Pro plugin to block password-based login, the website will be much more secure.
